All About the News

This past weekend Facebook dropped a new feature called Facebook News. This is apparently a dedicated tab for news within the app. The news will be tailored to users based off their interests. Of course there is the possibility for accusations of bias, and if you want to find out more about that you can check out the article here.

Personally, I think this is pretty cool that they're integrating news into their platform. While I think you can easily find news on any platform, I feel like it can often be unreliable because it can be hard to trust what is on the internet. It sounds like Facebook is going to work to try and make it as unbiased as possible in terms of the news outlets that are featured. How well that will go we'll have to wait and find out, but I think they can do it. I also think that news is a feature that most people don't think about when it comes to social media, but platforms should be integrating news feeds into their platforms. It would make it easier for people who are on social media to get their news updates there as well, as opposed to having to go to a news website or going to more traditional ways to get news updates as well. Since the feature is so new, it will take a while to get feedback on it, so until then it is what it is, simply a news tab.
